Good Afternoon Parents, Students, and Community Members,

I want to update you on the White Pine County School District’s work as we’ve been transitioning to a learn at home model.

  • Principals, teachers, and instructional support staff reached out to each and every family within the district on Monday and Tuesday of this week.  It was important for us to reassure our families that we have a plan in place to continue learning for students. This outreach will continue. If you have had any trouble at all communicating with your school or your teacher, I want to know about it.
  • School phone numbers and, to a limited degree, school offices remain open.  Phone calls to schools’ main phone lines will either be answered or returned within one business day.  School websites and Facebook pages continue to be updated regularly.
  • Nutritional services are being provided daily for students and families.  I’m happy to report that these services will continue on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as well at the pick up spots already identified.  All students, regardless of family income, are eligible for these meals.  Students do not need to “reserve” a meal. Just show up at the Grab-n-Go locations.  As a reminder, these are
    • White Pine High School 11-2pm
    • McGill Elementary 11:30-12:30pm
    • Ruth Community Center 11:30-12:30
    • Lund School 11:30-12:30
    • Cherry Creek 11:30-12:00
    • Lages 12:30-1:00
  • Custodial staff are continuing their work to deeply sanitize all surfaces, carpets, learning materials--everything within each school.
  • District office staff remain available to provide support and assistance to the best of their ability.

I want to thank you for your support of education during this time.  I think we all acknowledge that the situation in our country, state, and community presents many challenges.  I am extremely proud of the WPCSD staff as they’ve rallied to make the best of it. I thank you as parents and students for the work you are doing to support learning.  I urge everyone to unite as a community so that we can come through this better together.
